Anatel approves a resolution that designates S-band ranges

The Directing Council of the National Telecommunications Agency (Anatel) approved, by unanimity, this Thursday (8/6), the destination of frequency tracks to the S-Band.

It will be 30 + 30 MHz and 2.170 - 2.200 MHz, available to Personal Mobile Services (SMP) Multimedia Communication (SCM), switched landline (STFC), Private Limited (SLP), and Global Mobile Satellite (SMGS).

With the approval of the resolution that promotes the range's multi-destination, a path is open to be able to guarantee a more rational and efficient use of the spectrum in the future. However, range's terms of service that revolves on political-regulatory matters will be subjects of posterior debates by the Board of Directors, after deeper analysis by the technical area, and will be defined in another resolution.

After this stage, Anatel's Superintendence of Granting and Provision of Resources will determine the technical and operational requirements available to the range.

The resolution's proposal received suggestions and contributions from society by public consultations 19/2017 and 15/2016, that involved, among other aspects, the coexistence between services that already partially occupied this range and new candidate services.
